Each time new graphics drivers are released on this site, the Inventor team also releases an updated Inventor Graphics database. This allows rapid response to most graphics issues.
The Autodesk Inventor® team makes every effort to select the most reliable and functional setting for all users. You might encounter problems that we cannot support if you modify settings without our advice. The Inventor Graphics database is for use with the drivers documented on this site. We have a high degree of confidence that current Inventor® certifications will work with previous Inventor® releases.
Please Update Inventor's Graphics Database
- Use the update that
applies to your version of Inventor.
- This will add the latest certified drivers.
- Using an older version of Inventor with a newer certification is OK. For example, a driver certified in R11 is also considered certified in R10 with the appropriate database update.
-
Autodesk
Inventor® versions R11 and newer: Extract the files and place
them into <Inventor Install directory>\Inventor X\Configuration. (Replace
X with your Inventor version number.)
R11 and greater Graphics Database 04/25/2008 - Autodesk Inventor®
versions before R11:Open the zip file and double click on the appropriate
reg file for your operating system.

R11 News:
- Urgent: A
problem has surfaced for Direct3D on many card/driver combinations.
- Symptoms: Inventor crashes or system reboots during creation of a drawing view.
- Impacted:
- Inventor 11, using Direct3D, without any service packs. (Issue fixed in SP1 with the updated graphics database from above.)
- Potentially, all graphics cards except Nvidia and ATI FireGL V series.
- This problem is most likely to happen for large views.
- To resolve the issue (This only applies to R11 without a service pack.):
- Download BodyCulling.zip
- Unzip the contents to your hard drive.
- Double click on DisableBodyCulling.reg to merge the workaround into your R11 registry.
- This workaround installs under CurrentUser in the register. It will need to be renewed for every user and for the current user every time Inventor re-registers.
- nView features are silently disabled when Inventor R11 application
is launched. In some systems, when the feature is enabled it causes Inventor
to freeze right after it is launched and will eventually require you
to reboot the system.
Suggested Workaround:
- Add Inventor in the list of nView applications tab.
- Disable or uncheck all nView functions for Inventor.
- The list should contain the Inventor application with a bold red "X" next to it.
- This will tell nView to always disable its features when running Inventor.
- All other windows/applications retain the nView features.
R10 News:
Important Information: The above registry files implement the following changes, for Inventor 9, that were found necessary for Inventor 10 and 11:
Archives
Archive registry files do not contain information about drivers or cards newer than the date on which they were released.
| Latest Graphics Database Registry File | Date Released |
| R6 Graphics Database | September 9, 2004 |
| R7 Graphics Database | May 19, 2005 |
| R8 Graphics Database | March 9, 2006 |
| R9 Graphics Database | February 1, 2008 |
Install Notes for the above Registry and Graphics Database Downloads
- Users of previous versions of Autodesk Inventor® should always download and run the correct "Graphics Database". This provides support for new graphics cards or drivers that did not exist at the time the product was released.
- Autodesk does not support the use of non-certified by Autodesk drivers.
- The registry files listed under archives will not be updated in the future.
After you download the file, complete the following steps:
- If the zipped file contains XML files (i.e. HardwareLibraryD3D.xml) for R11 or later:
- Unzip the Graphics Database files onto your hard drive.
- Move them into the Configuration folder for your Autodesk Inventor® installation (i.e. "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 11\Configuration").
- If the zipped file contains registry files (i.e. R10_NT_HardwareLibrary.reg)
for R10 or earlier:
- Unzip the registry files onto your hard drive.
- Double-click the new file so that information in the file can be entered into the registry.
- The naming convention of the .reg files explains the purpose of each file:
- R9 or R10 indicates the Autodesk Inventor® release for which it was built.
- NT, W2k, WXP indicates files specific to these operating systems.
